Margaret Clisham

Through video, sculpture, and painting, I use my body to take on a multitude of personas. By
creating and acting as different characters I explore the way I navigate and react to the world.
I create immersive videos that allow the viewer to sink into the version of reality that I am
choosing to present. Disguising myself behind a variety of wigs and makeup, I explore the
connection between drag and video performance. My work is resourceful. I mine through hundreds of free stock sounds and recycle old media to craft my videos as a way to pay homage to the expansiveness of the Internet. I use irony and
humor to engage with morbid thoughts, coating them in a layer of edible glitter to disguise the
harsh reality underneath. Ultimately, my work is focused on the unapologetic pursuit of fun and
enjoyment in the 21st century.
